Well I went to Walmart tonight and got all the things I need for my "Master the Cheesecake" Weekend.... I got the fixings to make all the cheesecakes I wanted to try. Got the raspberries for the Raspberry Swirl. I also got the French Vanilla Bean Extract for my Vanilla Bean Cheesecake, which I'm going to make a graham cracker and pecan crust... Yummy The chocolate cheesecake I think Is going to be the best.. I may put some fresh strawberries on top of that... and I forgot to get the pumpkin, but there is always tomorrow to get that. Well stop back in on Sunday to view the cheesecakes in my "Sweets" Button.
Well there is nothing that I like more then a fabulously made cheesecake. So this weekend is going to be the weekend to master the perfect cheesecake. I have decided that I'm going to try making several different flavors of cheesecake and see how they turn out. I know that I have several different departments at work that will eat them, which is a great thing. I think I'm going to start out with a vanilla cheesecake with a graham cracker crust, then I'm going to make a cheesecake with fresh raspberry swirl all over the top, a chocolate cheesecake with a chocolate cookie crust, and maybe a pumpkin one. I have several small springform pans so I won't be going too overboard with large cakes. I will be making them this Saturday and I'm hoping that I will have pictures of them by Sunday for all of my viewers to sneak a peak at. Once I master the most perfect cheesecake maybe then I can make one for you. Check back in this weekend for a closer look at my wonderful cheesecake creations.
On March 20th, 2011, I had the pleasure to give my sister in law a baby shower. Robert and Jenn are expecting their first child this May and I'm so very excited to be an Auntie.
I have been planning this baby shower for months, and I really think I out did myself with this shower. I had everything planned out, from the food, to the games, to the time frame of the shower, as well as having a nice colored coated map of where I wanted everything to be placed...lol I just wanted to make sure the process was as smooth and seamless as possible, and it was.. I had some of the most wonderful ladies helping me decorate, blow up balloons, and listen to me bark orders...lol Not Really!! If you are interested in looking at some of the pictures from the event, go to the "party planning" button at the top of the page, and take a look at a few of the pics from the event. There is also a button at the top named "diaper cakes". Please take a look at those as well and tell me what you think. I hope you enjoy looking at the pics as much as I do. Well the Lasagna was great. I made it for the first time without cooking the noodles first. I was so glad that I did. It's much easier to put everything together when you don't have to worry about ripping, or sticking to the noodles. I used Chicken Sausage as my meat and used carrots, celery, onions, and petite diced tomato's. I don't use the traditional spaghetti sauce in mine because it takes away from all the natural flavors in the lasagna. I mixed up my ricotta, cottage cheese, spinach, parmesan, and one egg. Used some parmesan and mozzarella cheese for all the layers, plus I have a secret spice mix I use for some added flavor. There you have it. Hopefully I'll be able to get a good picture of it to post here on my site. Oh and the two loafs of bread came out wonderfully.
Well today I'm going to make two more loafs of bread. I'm making Mick a loaf of cinnamon raisin swirl and I'm making a loaf of cinnamon pecan swirl for me. I'm also making a Chicken Sausage and Vegetable Lasagna for supper. I just love the weekends when I have the opportunity to create great food, and have plenty of time to do it.
The yeast bread that I made yesterday turned out to be a great success. We had it toasted this morning with some butter and I put raspberry jam on mine. The bread might not have raised as much as I would have liked but the taste made up for it. This bread was easy to cut, without falling apart and it was nice an moist on the inside. I think that this bread was moister then last weekends bread because I used eggs in this yeast bread. Anyway it was wonderful!!! There will be some pictures posted later, under "my creations". Take a look if you get the chance. Well I was in the mood to do some baking today. Which isn't unusual for me. I made some bread last weekend which came out very well, and tasted great, but I wanted to try it again this weekend. I made two very nice looking loafs of bread, which still didn't rise as much as I would have liked, but it's wonderful none the less. I also had two very lonely bananas in the cupboard that needed to be used up, so I made this awesome banana w/glazed pecan bread. The smell of this bread while it was cooking was buttery, and nutty. With a hint of caramel, vanilla, and of course banana. I have never tried banana bread with glazed pecans before, so I didn't know what to expect. The glaze on the pecan melted in the banana bread and worked it's way through the whole loaf of bread. The glazed pecans gave the bread a dark appearance, but wow is it every tasty. Made a Cream of Broccoli soup for supper, which we are just about to eat. So long for now, but I will keep you posted as to what my next creation will be.
